Seattle and Washington, D.C., like many US cities, have outstanding public art displays. In fact, the cities have at least one piece of art in common.

I recently visited Washington, D.C. and took the following photograph at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden.

Outdoor Art: Washington, D.C.

Typewriter Eraser, Washington, D.C.

Then scrolling through my old travel photos, I found this one from the Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park.

outdoor art: Seattle

Typewriter Eraser, Seattle

They are identical pieces (called Typewriter Eraser) from the same artists: Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen.

A third version is currently at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Which city’s public art display (Seattle, DC, or other) would you like to visit?

NOTE: As much as I wish I was compensated by the companies mentioned in this article, I am NOT.
